I appreciate brownies in all their forms. There are a few recipes that I use depending on the mood that I am in. Today’s recipe is one that I grew up with. My mother makes these as her signature brownies. I just remember how chocolatey they were and how good the walnuts blended in with the chocolate. This walnut brownies recipe was a staple in our house.

One of the mistakes I made as a little girl with this recipe is thinking the chocolate from this recipe would taste good on its own. I remember taking a bite and gagging. This recipe calls for unsweetened chocolate. DO NOT eat it alone! That is my public service announcement and I am definitely a credible source because I love dark chocolate.
You do not have to make this recipe with walnuts. The choices are endless with this cake style brownie. There is a choice. You can pick your desired mix-ins or leave them plain. The biggest recommendation I can give you is to use a butter/flour greasing method for your pan. It makes a big difference in the way the brownies come out. Without further ado, let’s get started!
